Two months down...

Tomorrow marks the 2 month point since I was officially let go from Computershare. It hasn't been a fun summer. I have had a few interviews and really thought that I had landed a good position earlier this month but after being dragged along for a month and a half I was informed that they didn't want me. I've had a few other interviews since then (over the phone) but nothing much so far. I had a absolutely terrible interview friday where everything about me was questioned. I guess they really wanted to find the right fit for the company but making your prospects doubt everything about their talents probably isn't the best way to do it. I really doubt I'll get any further with that company but who knows. I apply for jobs every day so I figure something will come up one of these days. The number of jobs being post so hopefully that's a good thing. The economy is improving (so it appears) so hopefully this nightmare will end soon. If it wasn't for Bren being here I don't know how I would make it.

A new start... eventually

It's been a month now since I was layed off from my job of 7 1/2 years. Oddly enough I actually got an interview for a job that is a very good fit within a few days (even before I was officially let go since I got paid for the rest of that week) but it's now been a month since first contact and after 3 interviews (including two in person and one with the hiring manager) I still haven't gotten an offer. I was supposed to know one way or another early this week but due to training by the in house recruiters there seems to be some sort of a delay. I think there is a good chance that I got this job (there appear to be about 8-10 applicants for 4 positions) but I just don't know and it is driving me crazy. I finally gave up waiting today and started applying for other jobs again. Hopefully next week will be better on the job front.

I've been caught!!

The wife finally figured out that I have a blog!!! Maybe I shouldn't do some much bitching on here about the kids and everything else?? Nah.. doesn't sound like any fun!

New car and I need one too!!

A couple months ago we finally replaced the 4-Runner for B with a 2005 Dodge Caravan. I'm now $14K back in debt (ok... down to around $12K now) and something just isn't right about this car. The windshield leaks so if it's raining the passenger will get wet from a drip through the roof. B is supposed to take the car in to get it fixed but she hasn't done it yet. She seems to think I would do it but I had to explain that just because the car is in my name doesn't mean I'm going to take care of everything on it - it's her car! There are also far to many dents and repair spots on this car for it to of not been in some sort of accident. We were supposed to get a CarFax report before we bought the thing but the sneaky used car salesman (earning his reputation) managed to get us out the door without giving us that bit of information. Now I'm going to have to pay for the report myself to find out what has happened to this car in the past. It's not a bad car but I just have bad vibes about it. It did fine on the drive out to WV and MD so I guess it's in pretty good shape - I just think I'm paying for less car then is there.

Meanwhile my car (1995 Toyota Camry) is starting to show its age. It's really time to get the timing belt changed and the transmission is starting to stick. That may just be a fluid change (which maybe I should of had done at the last oil change but it wasn't sticking then) but I just don't have the money hanging around with the holidays coming up. Hopefully everything will hold together until next year when the credit card will be done with and we'll have some extra money. I was wanting to pay down the Caravan but I might have to look at replacing my old girl. She's a good car and I'd love to keep her for a few more years but I don't know what is left in her and if it's worth the time and money to keep her going. I have to laugh when I hear people complain about having to drive a 5 year old car instead of buying a new one! Try getting a decent one and maybe it will last you over a decade!

The sky is falling!!!!

As if I needed any more problems in my life I now have a hole in my guest bathroom ceiling because of a leak in the tub from the bathroom above. I don't even want to think about what this is going to cost to fix but hopefully I can get my brother in-law out to my place soon so he can help out. It's always good to have relatives that can help with something like that (he's also good with cars but the problem with the cooling system was to much to ask a family member to help out with) but it can be a pain not knowing when you'll get the help. How long to I wait before asking again?
